| ID | Registration FAQ | |
| R1 | Why haven't I received my Registration Details yet? | ^ |
| After you purchase myPM SCG, Midori Media manually processes your purchase and verifies your details. Midori Media then generates your Registration Details and emails them to you. This process normally occurs on the same day you purchase myPM SCG, however occasionally it may take a bit longer. If you have not received your Registration Details please contact Midori Media (Email: sales@midorimedia.com). | ||
| R2 | Why is the Register Menu not visible on the myPM SCG Main User Interface? | ^ |
| Once myPM SCG has been successfully registered, the Register Menu is no longer displayed. To re-register myPM SCG, it must be uninstalled and re-installed. |
||
| R3 | After transferring myPM SCG from one computer to another, myPM SCG is no longer registered. Why? | ^ |
| When myPM SCG is registered, the Registration Details are stored on the computer on which myPM SCG is installed. If myPM SCG is transferred to another computer (under the terms of the Single User / Site Licence), myPM SCG will need to be registered on the new computer. | ||
| R4 | After upgrading myPM SCG, myPM SCG is no longer registered. Why? | ^ |
| myPM SCG Registration Details are version specific. Ensure you have the Registration Details for the new version of myPM SCG. Use these to register the updated copy of myPM SCG. | ||

| ID | Configuration FAQ | |
| C1 | Can myPM SCG use MS Project files (.mpp) to generate s curves? | ^ |
| No. Before myPM SCG can be used to generate a S Curve, the data in MS Project must be exported to a MS Excel Workbook. This can be accomplished using MS Project's File > Save As command, and an Export Map. Ensure the required fields are exported (ie. Baseline Start & Finish Dates, Actual Start & Finish Dates, Man Hours, Costs, % Complete, Filter field, etc.) Please refer to the MS Project Help / Documentation for detailed information on exporting data to MS Excel Workbook. | ||
| C2 | Can myPM SCG use MS Access databases (.mdb) to generate s curves? | ^ |
| No. Before myPM SCG can be used to generate a S Curve, the data in MS Access must be exported to MS Excel. Ensure the required fields are exported (ie. Baseline Start & Finish Dates, Actual Start & Finish Dates, Man Hours, Costs, % Complete, Filter field, etc.) Please refer to the MS Access Help / Documentation for detailed information on exporting data to MS Excel. | ||
| C3 | What is the Data Source Filter? | ^ |
| The Data Source Filter is used to determine which tasks in the Data Source should be processed. The Data Source Filter is commonly used when the the original data is maintained in MS Project, and exported to a MS Excel Workbook. The Summary field defined in MS Project is used to determine which tasks (eg. Summary or Detail) should be processed by myPM SCG. The Data Source Filter should be used to ensure only Summary or Detail tasks are processed, and not both. | ||
| C4 | What is the Cut Off Date? | ^ |
| The Cut Off date is used by myPM SCG to calculate the when the Actual S Curve terminates. It should be set to the date the Data Source was last updated. It must be within the range of the first Actual Start Date and the last Actual Finish Date. If it is outside this range, myPM SCG will automatically reset it as appropriate. | ||
| ID | Process FAQ | |
| P1 | Why doesn't myPM SCG process all the tasks in the Data Source? | ^ |
| Possible reasons for myPM SCG not processing all the tasks in the Data Source include: 1. Evaluation Licence : Under the Evaluation Licence, only the first ten tasks are processed by myPM SCG. To process additional tasks, you need to purchase a Single User or Site Licence, and register myPM SCG. 2. Data Source Filter: If enabled, ensure at least one or more tasks in the Data Source meet the defined Data Source Filter criteria. 3. Invalid Task Details: To be processed by myPM SCG, each task must have a valid start and finish date, and non-zero Man Hours and/or Cost. If actual start and finish dates are not known, baseline or estimated values should be used. Tasks containing invalid or missing dates (eg. N/A) are ignored by myPM SCG. |
||
| P2 | Why does myPM SCG change the Cut Off Date when processing the Data Source? | ^ |
| The Cut Off date must fall between the first start date, and the last finish date as defined in the Data Source. If the Cut Off date is before the first start date, it is reset to the first start date. If the Cut Off date is after the last finish date, it is reset to the last finish date. |
||
| P3 | Why does myPM SCG overwrite changes made to the Output file? | ^ |
| The Output file is created from the Template, hence any changes made to the Output file will be overwritten. Changes should be made to the Template, which is saved by myPM SCG to create the Output file. |
||
| P4 | Can the Template be modified? | ^ |
| Yes, the Template can be modified as required, provided the following conditions are met. 1. The Template must contain at least one Worksheet, where the processed data is inserted by myPM SCG. 2. The Template Workbook and the data Worksheet must not be protected. |
||
| P5 | Why do the total Man Hours / Costs in the Output File differ from those in the Data Source / MS Project schedule? | ^ |
| Possible reasons for total Man Hours / Costs not matching include: 1. Evaluation Licence: Under the Evaluation Licence, only the first ten tasks are processed by myPM SCG. 2. Data Source Filter: If enabled, only tasks that meet the Data Source Filter criteria are processed. 3. Invalid Task Details: Tasks containing invalid or missing dates (eg. N/A) are ignored by myPM SCG. 4. The Data Source contains both Summary and Detail tasks, and the Data Source Filter has not been configured to choose one or the other. To differentiate between Summary and Detail tasks, be sure to include the MS Project Summary field in the export map when creating the Data Source, and configure the Data Source Filter to process either Summary or Detail tasks. |
||
| P6 | How does myPM SCG handle Milestone (zero duration) tasks? | ^ |
| Tasks with zero or negative durations are ignored by myPM SCG. | ||
| P7 | Why does the Actual % Complete calculated by myPM SCG differ from the value displayed in MS Project? | ^ |
| MS Project calculates Project % Complete based on task durations - it does not take into account Man Hours or Cost. myPM SCG analyses each task, and calculates the % complete based on each task's duration, Man Hours / Costs, and % complete. | ||
| P8 | Which fields do I need to export from MS Project to use myPM SCG? | ^ |
| The following fields should be exported to generated a Baseline S Curve: Baseline Start Date, Baseline Finish Date, Baseline Man Hours / Costs. The following fields should be exported to generate the Actual and Target S Curves. Actual Start Date, Actual Finish Date, Actual Man Hours / Costs, % Complete. In addition, if the schedule contains Summary (roll-up) and Detail tasks, the Summary field should also be exported, so the Data Source Filter can be used to process Summary or Detail tasks, not both. |
||
| P9 | I do not know the actual start and finish dates for all the tasks in my schedule -what should I do? | ^ |
| As myPM SCG requires valid start and finish dates for each task, you will need to either enter the baseline dates, or estimated dates for each task. | ||
| P10 | The Actual S Curve sits above the Target S Curve at the Cut Off Date, does this mean I am ahead of schedule? | ^ |
| The Actual S Curve may sit above the Target S Curve if your tasks are proportionately ahead of schedule. For example, if you have a 10 day duration task, and it is 80% complete after 2 days, etc. To determine if you are ahead of schedule, you will need to review your tasks, and ensure the % complete values are accurate. In the above case, it may be worthwhile splitting the task into two new tasks - the first task with a duration of 2 days and 100% complete, and the second task with a duration of 8 days starting at day 3 and 0 % complete. | ||
| P11 | What happens to the Baseline, Actual, and Target S Curves if I change the Cut Off Date? | ^ |
| The Cut Off date will only affect the Actual S Curve. The Baseline and Target S Curves are not affected. Moving the Cut Off Date back in time will push the Actual S Curve higher, while moving it forward in time will lower the Actual S Curve. | ||
